Carter Wins First ITF
Hayley Carter won the ITF grade 4 tournament in El Paso, Texas.
October 31, 2009 -- Fourteen year old Hayley Carter continues to impress as she won her first ITF tournament title held October 19th-25th, in El Paso, Texas. On route to the championship Carter defeated the tournament’s number one seed Juliana Gajic from Canada in the second round and American Alexandra Leatu in the round of sixteen. After defeating Nadia Ravita in the quarterfinals, Carter came up against the number one nationally ranked junior in the fourteen and under division, Brooke Austin. After a close contest, she came out victorious by a score of 6-3,7-6(3), securing a spot in the final against another fellow American Spencer Liang.
In the championship, Carter came out victorious yet again, decisively beating the fourth nationally ranked Liang by a score of 6-2,6-0. This was only the second ITF tournament that Carter had ever played.
