Ray Has Impressive Fall

Kaitlin Ray won a Bullfrog Designated and was a quarterfinalist at the premier Pan American Games ITF.

Click to View October 31, 2009 -- Kaitlin Ray has consistently posted some impressive results this fall. In September, she was a finalist at the girls 18’s USTA/Southern Bullfrog Designated Tournament in her hometown of Little Rock, Arkansas. In the finals she had to withdraw due to illness. Although she didn’t win that Bullfrog, she surely rebounded with the next Bullfrog title! In October she became the champion at the girls 18’s Bullfrog Designated in Raleigh, North Carolina, defeating top ranked Southern player Whitney Kay in the semi-finals by a score of 6-2, 6-2, and Taylor Davidson in a three set final match.

Ray also played in some ITF tournament’s for the first time this fall. She was a quarterfinalist in both singles and doubles at the ITF Grade 4 tournament held in Urbana, Illinois in September. Most recently, at the Pan American Games ITF in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Ray had one her of best tournaments to date, defeating Nicole Gibbs, the #2 ranked player in the senior class on tennisrecruiting.net and the #44th player in the world in the ITF rankings. She eventually reached the quarterfinals of this prestigious tournament falling in a close match to Monica Puig of Puerto Rico.

Next up for Kaitlin is the ITF grade 2 tournament in Columbia, South Carolina, which will be held November 3rd-9th.
